Measurement for Emerging Technologies
The Measurement for Emerging Technologies programme (MET) is a DTI sponsored initiative which provides a 'measurement infrastructure' to assist emerging technologies which are key to innovation & productivity.
The MET Programme currently focuses on six Key Research Themes, which are closely aligned with the DTI technology strategy. These themes are advanced materials, medical, communications, energy & the environment, manufacturing and underpinning metrology.
The DTI's primary objective for MET is to "address the measurement requirements of those emerging technologies which will facilitate the introduction of new products and processes, where the UK can be competitive in a global market".
Microfluidics, one of TUV NEL's key areas of expertise, is of such importance that it is included within the underpinning metrology project which spans all the key research themes detailed above.
The industrial development of microfluidic devices has greatly exceeded the ability to model and analyse their detailed working and in order to enable these systems to reach their full potential a body of knowledge has been established by TUV NEL to assist research and development. TUV NEL has been tasked, as sector champion, to provide awareness of global best practice and state of the art activity in the UK, Europe, USA and Asia.
If you have a potential MET project or new research partnership to be developed then please
contact us
to discuss your specific interest.
