Noise and Vibration
TUV NEL provides noise and vibration consultancy services to clients who are concerned with the impact of noise created by machinery, equipment and other systems.
Noise and vibration has become an increasingly important issue for many companies. Legislation has had a rising impact on businesses both in relation to environmental issues and to the comfort and safety of employees and the public. Additionally, the existence of excessive noise or vibration may be indicative of malfunction or inefficiency within the equipment.
At TUV NEL we are able to apply our knowledge of acoustics to help clients identify the source of noise in systems and products and to devise solutions to reduce noise levels. We have particular expertise in the prediction, measurement, analysis and treatment of fluid-borne noise. This expertise has been employed widely by the defence industry but is equally appropriate to our other markets.
Similarly, we can utilise vibration measurement and analysis tools, and finite element analysis software, to determine stress levels, shock evaluation and dynamic response of systems and plant. These investigations can be carried in-situ or at our own laboratory and can be used to identify operating problems, determine stress levels and normal operating characteristics and verify expected performance.
