NEL delivers the Ecolabel Scheme in the UK on behalf of the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

The Ecolabel covers an increasing number of products and services, from cleaning products to electronic equipment. Ecolabel products deliver high performance and environmental quality, verified by a robust and independent certification process. You can spot an Ecolabel product as it carries the flower logo – making it very simple for buyers and consumers to buy wisely in the green marketplace.

The environmental criteria behind it are tough, and only the very best products are expected to meet it. It provides the consumer with a guarantee that the product is less damaging to the environment.

Through the provision of the Ecolabel Scheme Helpline, NEL offers free help and advice to businesses and consumers alike. We deliver the application and assessment process, and licence successful applicants (in partnership with Oakdene Hollins Ltd). As a mark of our successful delivery of the Ecolabel, the number of UK licenced Ecolabel products has risen from just 14 to 514 in the space of two years.
