NEL has recently been awarded accreditation to BS EN 14181:2004 (QAL2). This award permits us to provide an accredited measurement service on sites operated under the legislation covering large combustion plant and waste incineration plant.
Operators of installations covered by the Large Combustion Plant Directive and the Waste Incineration Directive are required to have Automated Measuring Systems (AMS) to monitor the emissions to air of substances permitted by the appropriate directive.
Our service includes the on-site parallel measurements and functional audit which is followed by a comprehensive technical report, suitable for submission to regulatory authorities and plant operators.
Recently, NEL has been involved in the performance guarantee testing at a new Energy from Waste (EfW) facility. This work is essential to meet all of the client specified availability and performance guarantees. These guarantees include flue gas treatment efficiency assessments and compliance with the environmental requirements of the Waste Incineration Directive 2000/76/EC of the European Parliament. In addition to this, the plant will have to demonstrate compliance with the conditions of the PPC Permit issued by the Environment Agency.

Accreditation
We are accredited by UKAS to ISO/IEC 17025 and CEN/TS 15675:2007 for emissions monitoring work. In addition, we are also certified to ISO 9001 for all non-accredited activities such as consultancy.
