The National Measurement System (NMS) is delivered by three National Measurement Institutes (NMI's) and the National Measurement Office (NMO).
NMO
The NMO is the Executive Agency that ensures that the UK’s system of weights and measures is fair, accurate and legal so that consumers and businesses can be confident that they are operating in a fair marketplace. They work to ensure that consumers and businesses have access to sufficient information to make informed purchasing decisions. NMO is also responsible for all aspects of the NMS.

NPL
NPL is the UK’s national standards laboratory, an internationally respected and independent centre of excellent for measurement R&D. NPL maintains world-class multi-disciplined science facilities and offers a wide range of commercial services to solve metrology challenges.
LCG
LGC is an international science-based enterprise, operating in socially responsible fields underpinning the health, safety and security of the public. As the UK’s designated National Measurement Institute for chemical and biochemical analysis, LGC leads development of the bio-measurement system in the UK. It focuses on high accuracy measurement research and calibration series, and provides the traceability of measurement science that underpins legislation, regulation and standards encompassing healthcare, environmental and food sustainability, and security applications.
