Heat Transfer Modelling
Heat transfer modelling and research is a core strength at TUV NEL. Experimental and theoretical research is performed, with expertise in all forms of heat exchangers and applications.
This work is closely supported by the physical properties of fluids research.
Challenging Environments
Open literature heat exchange methods may be sufficient for simple heat exchange, but are inadequate for the exacting challenges of modern process design and optimisation. Often the engineer is faced with processes involving multi-component boiling, condensing or simultaneous heat and mass transfer. An on-going programme of research by our staff and using our facilities has developed advanced methods.
Research Facilities
Our research facilities include a viscous flow rig, a boiling and condensing rig and a multi-purpose wind tunnel, all of which enable us to directly support companies in the development and testing of innovative heat transfer products, in addition to undertaking fundamental research.
