Our independence from any manufacturer, supplier or end user is critically important to us.

Research carried out by TUV NEL has led to:

Body image scanning that is now used by the armed forces for body armour fitting
Producing the widgit which is used in many drinks' cans to create fizz
Steam tables. Much of the fundamental work was undertaken at TUV NEL
The introduction of more environmentally friendly chemical alternatives with which to measure oil-in-water
Physical property analysis of oils enabling advances in Formula 1 technology
Production of computer codes to help size heat exchangers
Development of the oscillating water column method for renewable energy production
Establishing testing and development protocols for multiphase flow meters

Funding
Research programmes are supported in a number of different ways; from UK and European public sector support through to purely private sector support. Some organisations choose to work with TUV NEL on a one-to-one basis while others share resources through joint industry projects or co-funding arrangements.

Our partnerships with academia and the public sector allow us to offer extended facilities and expertise which are ideally suited to industrial requirements. Our staff can provide advice and consultancy support for projects where required.
